Description

Description

The mission of the CoE in international cultural relations (ICR), cultural diplomacy (CD), and public diplomacy (PD) is threefold:- to rethink the nature of diplomacy and culture in the EU’s International Relations;- to transform research results into knowledge and insights that can support European policy making; and - to develop communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities using innovative and integrated approaches. Based on the cooperation of four departments and one innovation Lab, the Centre of excellence will seek to cross-fertilize the extended resources of the University of Siena with its external partnerships to offer an articulated set of innovative solutions in the domains of research, teaching & training, and dissemination and exploitation. This will include new interdepartmental research groups; co-creational sessions -based on the interaction between academics, practitioners, and policymakers- internships, a summer school, an international forum, and others. The Centre will address at least five kinds of audiences and stakeholders: Students at UNISI; young researchers and university faculty and staff from different departments of UNISI; practitioners stakeholders at the local, national, and European level, and policy-makers at the local, national, and European level. The Centre is expected to have long lasting effects on the University of Siena, on the departments benefitting from it, on the other organizations and individuals involved, and on the target groups. Overall, all stakeholders will benefit from an increased allocation of human and financial resources to teaching and research on EU subjects within the institution. The Centre will produce an articulated set of outputs. Regarding communication, the expected outputs are a Website; a project blog; a Regular Newsletter; and Social media channels. Regarding dissemination & exploitation, the expected outputs are publications, events and networking initiatives.
