“Culture Helps” / “Культура допомагає” is an EU co-funded, Ukrainian-German partnership project aimed at helping people from Ukraine who are displaced by the war, especially families and children, with integration into their new communities through cultural activities (call objective 1.b). The project focus is on (displaced) cultural professionals and organisations that can enable this process. The project offers multi-level grants, mental health support, online and offline workshops and meetings for displaced cultural professionals both in Ukraine and in exile as well as their peers in other Creative Europe countries. Partners' profound experience of building grass-root oriented support programs will create an agile and flexible aid and relief system, which is inclusive for diverse needs of individuals and organizations. We will focus our support via Ukrainian cultural actors being multipliers in this project, to help them find their way back to cultural expression and to facilitate their integration into host communities, inviting them to work with fellow displaced Ukrainians, recalibrating their social-cultural practice, using diverse means of artistic work and community art and staying in close connection with their displaced colleagues and home communities. In this context, we’ll put additional value on easing the consequences of the impact of the war on the mental health of the target groups. As a specific vulnerable and at the same time key target group in reaching out to children, we give special attention to the role of women. “Culture Helps” will support more than 140 organisations and initiatives through project and collaboration grants, as well as trainings, mentoring and peer-learning. More than 200 cultural workers will receive financial support to enhance their mental health.
