Description

Description

The National institute for training teachers (INSPE) of the University of Paris Est Créteil (UPEC) wants to develop the 'Jean Monnet Teacher Training' project with the aim of promoting knowledge of the European Union, especially its common culture, among teacher trainees of the Academie de Créteil on both parts of the national education system : First Degree (primary school teachers) and Second Degree (secondary school teachers). To increase the feeling of European citizenship the project will aim to improve both the knowledge of the European institutions and culture as well as the student's capacity to introduce these topics in the classroom through curricular activities and innovative teaching methodologies. These new teaching strategies and tools - involving students in artistic and scientific activities - will be implemented through the development of partnerships with cultural institutions. The goal of the project will be to enhance the inclusion of students who are disadvantaged or far from cultural venues by promoting a sensitive and creative way to access history, languages, sciences, technology and arts, while allowing them to link their studies with European culture and its identity. The programme will design and develop teaching units and materials, organize face-to-face training courses and online training courses for teachers.
