Description | Cumberland Council received £3.5 million from the Department for Transport to increase electric vehicle (EV) on-street charging infrastructure. The project aims to ensure that at least 70% of residents have access to a charge point within a five-minute walk, especially for those without off-street parking. In rural areas, charging facilities will be provided at community hubs to ensure equitable access. Consultations with residents and stakeholders will begin in July 2025, with the first chargers installed by winter 2025 and full commissioning expected by winter 2028. |
