The proposed 3-gigawatt facility aims to meet the rising power demand driven by the state's data center industry. The plant will occupy about 140 acres of a 973-acre property, with additional land for power line infrastructure. It is designed with a 300-foot smokestack to mitigate air quality impacts and will use water from the nearby Cobbs Creek Reservoir. The project is expected to create 209 construction jobs and 53 long-term operational jobs, with an anticipated operational life of 36 years and an expected start date in 2034. |
