Description

Ireland's first long duration, grid scale battery energy storage system located at Cushaling in the Irish midlands. The system stores renewable wind power and can supply electricity for four hours when wind power drops, supporting around ten thousand homes. It delivers about twenty megawatts of power for four hours, roughly eighty megawatt hours of stored energy, and responds in 0.1 seconds to grid operator calls. The battery is co-located with the Cushaling Wind Farm and plans include adding a large solar array on the same site, creating a hybrid clean energy hub.
