The project involves removing contaminated sediment containing PAHs, PCBs, oil, grease, and heavy metals trapped in the dam pool upstream of the Gorge Dam. The dredged material is transported via pipeline to a placement area downstream for stabilization and safe storage. The project will remove over 850,000 cubic yards of contaminated sediment and is funded by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and project partners through a cost-sharing agreement. |
