The objectives of the Eighth Poverty Reduction Support Credit Program for Cabo Verde are to ensure the macro-fiscal stability and the efficiency of public expenditures; and improve the provision of infrastructure services and the investment climate, as well as enhance labor force skills and improve environmental protection. The program will focus on two work pillars. (1) Good governance and public sector efficiency pillar will support the process of macroeconomic adjustment and the implementation of critical public-sector management reforms. (2) Competitiveness, private sector development and labor productivity pillar will help to establish a more transparent, fair and flexible investment climate by reducing administrative barriers to trade, rationalizing the tax-incentive system and deepening the domestic financial sector.
