Description

This project includes financing, design, construction, and operation of the Water Treatment Works at Merthyr Tydfil. This infrastructure will replace existing water treatment works at Pontsticill, Llwyn-Onn, and Cantref.The water treatment plant will be capable of processing an average output of 160ML/day (megaliters/day) and a maximum output of 225ML/day. It will include a storage tank of 150Ml for treated water to supply safe drinking water to over 600,000 people across the DCC South East Wales Conjunctive Use System (SEWCUS) network.The Cwm Taf Scheme involves a major investment project to design and build a new water treatment works and develop an existing water treatment works.The scheme is intended to be delivered primarily on two separate sites:Dan-y-Castell Project:Design and build of a new water treatment works on a brownfield site at Dan-y-Castell Farm, along with a raw water pumping station at Pontsticill.Llwyn-onn Project:Upgrading of the existing Llwyn-onn water treatment works.
