Description | Main objective : The CYCLE project aims to enhance the touristic opportunities of the Channel area by developing a joint network of cycle routes and greenways linking South East England to North West France. In this way, it plans to create a new, structuring cross-border tourist offer on the scale of the France (Channel) – England programme zone. CYCLE will also contribute to the development of a greener tourism. In this respect, the project will measure its ecological footprint and create a good practice guide. The inhabitants of the CYCLE zone will also benefit from communication events which will provide them with an overview of the itineraries offer, to go beyond their own local references. The objective consists in promoting a better appreciation of the area’s potential, more particularly by implementing thematic itineraries for the tourists (natural heritage, geology …) which will be refined thanks to a joint marketing study. Main actions : - Upgrades supporting the continuity of the cross-channel cycle itinerary: Routes and cycle paths development Road markings and signage for the CYCLE itineraries - Intermodality development: Implementation of intermodal services in railway stations and ports New installations in the Weymouth marine railway station Study to identify intermodal needs - Marketing, tourist promotion of the itinerary and communication: Market study Study of the visual and graphic identity of the CYCLE network Users facilities - Transverse actions: Organisation of seminars to share experience around cycle routes and greenways Organisation of seminars to share experience local economic impacts of cycle routes and greenways Measure of the ecological footprint of the project |
