Following the project implementation a European Destination of Excellence (EDEN Destination) will be selected in Cyprus, based on a national competition, which complies with the EDEN 2014 theme of excellence-Tourism and local gastronomy. The destination that is going to be the winner for the EDEN 2014 must have developed a specific tourism offer based on a specific local gastronomy. CTO will develop and clarify a set of evaluation criteria (general award and specific award criteria) for the selection of the EDEN Destination of Excellence for 2014. The launch of the project will be with an open national competition where all the interested candidates’ destinations can apply. The evaluation of the submitted applications forms will be by the Steering Committee and then a National Award Ceremony will take place in order to promote EDEN project and the winner destination for the theme Tourism and local gastronomy. Following the selection of the winner destination of EDEN 2014 promotional material and an awareness raising campaign will be developed in order to promote the winner destination and the runners-up. Furthermore, the Cyprus EDEN Network will include the winner destination of EDEN 2014.
