CyrusOne Data Center in Talkington Township

CyrusOne is proposing a data center project in Talkington Township, about 30 miles from downtown Springfield, Illinois. The project site is in a rural area with the closest home approximately half a mile away. The project plans to use existing electrical infrastructure from a nearby 4,000-acre solar farm and will employ a one-time-fill closed-loop cooling design. Emergency backup power will be provided by Tier 4 diesel generators, the EPA's strictest emissions standard. The project is expected to support hundreds of union tradespeople during construction and create permanent jobs upon completion. The developer has committed significant funding for STEM education, apprenticeship, workforce pipeline development, and minority recruitment and employment.
