Da’an Wind and Solar Green Hydrogen-Ammonia Integration Demonstration Project

The project is the world’s largest single-unit green ammonia production facility operated by Jilin Electric Power in Da’an, Jilin province, China. It uses 800 MW of renewable energy (700 MW wind and 100 MW solar) to produce up to 32,000 tons of hydrogen and 180,000 tons of green ammonia annually. The facility generates hydrogen via water electrolysis using local wind and solar resources, then synthesizes ammonia by combining hydrogen with nitrogen extracted from the air. The green ammonia is used in chemicals, transportation, and power generation sectors, aiming to reduce carbon emissions by about 650,000 tons per year.
