Viet Nguyen Construction Works Joint-Stock Company developed the 14.6MW Dak Nong 2 small hydropower plant, on the Dak Nong stream, Dak Nia commune, Gia Nghia town, Dak Nong province. The project was expected to generate 58,688 MWh annually, exporting 58,101 of this to the national grid. The project consisted of five units: 3 units of 4MW, 1 unit of 2MW and 1 unit of 0.63MW. The project load factor was 45.8%. The project consisted of 5 Francis horizontal axis turbines: 3x 4.388MW; 1x2.2MW; 1x0.689MW. Output was transmitted with a 22kV transmission line. The investment license was approved by the local authority in May 2008. The EPC contract was signed in July 2009. Tariff was expected to be VND 650/kWh, as approved by the FSR (@ US$c 4). Commissioning was expected for January 2011. Total project cost was VND 307,247 million (US$14.7 million). D/E was expected to be 70/30. Financial closure date was unknown, but estimated at January 2011 - expected commissioning date but this was unconfirmed (hence "advanced development").
