Description

Dal Telecom International (DTI) is a GSM-1800 and D-AMPS operator with licenses for three regions within the Far East super-region (Khabarovsk Krai, Amur Region and Kamchatka Region) covering a population of 2.7 million. It was established in Khabarovsk as a joint venture between local regional operator and private companies, including United telecom (a joint venture between Rostelecom and Media One International) and VarTelecom. The company received its license in April 1995 and AMPS cellular network was launched in three Far Eastern regions in June 1995. In 1996 DTI signed a license agreement with VimpelCom about the use of BeeLine trademark. In 2002, GSM-1800 net was launched in Khabarovsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Blagoveshchensk. In 2004 Dal Telecom held a market share of approximately 45% in the areas where it operated, with a total of 322,000 subscribers. In 2003 DTI management was the company's largest shareholder. In June 2004 Vimpelcom purchased 93.5% of DTI shares for a reported price of approximately US$73.3 million. By 2005 Vimpelcom owned 100% of DTI. http://www.dti.ru/(russian)
