Description
Description | In June 2004, the Turkish State Airports Administration (DHMI) awarded an 8.5 year concession contract to ATM (Aksa-Turkuaz-Manas) consortium for operating and managing the Dalaman Airport in Turkey. The contract included building a new international terminal and upgrading of the current airport facilities. This project also aimed at relieving the traffic of international and domestic flights by providing a new international terminal building, additional apron, and a car park to be built at the current airport area. The concession contract was granted through a competitive tender. The winning bidder was the Turkish-Kyrgyz consortium ATM (Aksa-Turkuaz-Manas). ATM consortium was formed by Turkish construction group Aksa(51%), Kazakh’s Turkuaz group(20%), Kyrgystan’s airport terminal operator Manas Aviation(5%). The other three bidders were a consortium of Bilkent Holding and Regional Limited, a consortium of Cakir Yapi and German Flughafen, and constructor Makyol. The total cost of the project was estimated at US$102 million (EUR80 million). The project reached financial closure in June 2004. The project received financing from a 6.5 year US$102 million from Germany's HVB Group in September 2004. The domestic and international terminals at Dalaman airport covered an area of 35,000 square meters and served 3 million passengers per year. Construction work of a new international terminal began in June 2004 and was expected to complete in April 2006. The new facilities would increase airport area to 95,000 square meters and annual passenger capacity to 10 million people. In July 2006, the new international terminal at the Dalaman Airport was launched. The consortium company ATM signed an additional loan of $30 million with the HVB/UniCredit Group for the construction of an airport hotel and the renovation of runways and taxi stops. The ATM Airport concession concluded on 28 April, 2015. YDA will operate a new contract for both international and domestic terminals beginning 1 August 2015.
