Description

The Dalian Marine Tank Terminal Company (DMTTC), a major chemical terminal with 35 tanks, commenced full-scale operations in April 1998. It was established as a Japan-Europe-China joint venture by Mitsui & Co. (10%), Storli ASA (44%) (later known as Odfjell ASA), Dalian Port Authorities (36%) and Van Ommeren Tank Terminals (Asia) B.V. (10%). The $30-million terminal will have capacity of 60,000 cubic meters. Odfjell Terminals will manage DMTTC. It is in the largest class of such terminals in China and is the first fully-fledged commercial terminal in the three northeastern provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning. It will serve as a supply and receiving point for the petrochemical industry of the north-eastern provinces. With Dalian Petrochemical Co. (ethylene capacity 450,000 t/y), Jilin Chemical Industry Corp. (also 450,000 t/y) and others, the companies have an overall capacity of 1.2 mn t/y. The berth can accommodate large vessels of 40,000 DWT and over. None None
