Description

In June 1996, Lingkaran Trans Kota reached financial closure on the funds for the construction of a 40km six-lane toll expressway from Damansara to Kuchong. The expressway is expected to open for service in 1999. Gamuda Berhad is the project sponsor. Lingkaran Trans Kota borrowed US$587 million from private lenders and through a government soft loan. The expected traffic flow is 104,000 vehicles per day. In October 2009, Lingkaran Trans Kota Holdings Bhd (Litrak) announced that it was open to any proposal made by Asas Serba Sdn Bhd to take over the company. Asas Serba Bhd is the private entity that has been in the news of its ambitious plan to take over Malaysia's 22 tolled highways for RM50 billion and cut toll rates by 20 percent. As of Aug. 1998, 80% of the construction works have been completed.
