Dangote $20 Billion Refinery Project

under construction

The Dangote Group launched a $20 billion refinery project in Nigeria in 2013 to build a refinery that would reduce the country's dependence on imported refined oil products. The project faced many obstacles including land acquisition delays and opposition from entrenched interests in the oil business. The company had to build its own port and infrastructure to handle heavy equipment. The refinery uses 440 million litres of treated water and the water treatment section covers more than 30 hectares. About 67,000 people worked on the project.
