Description
Description | Dangote Industries has elected to construct a 700,000-barrel-per-day petroleum refinery in Lamu, Kenya. The facility will be the largest of its kind in East Africa, aiming to reduce the region's reliance on imported fuel and position Kenya as a net exporter of fuel across the East African Community. The refinery benefits from the logistical advantages of the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia Transport corridor, including a deep-water port capable of docking Very Large Crude Carriers. The project draws on the experience of the Dangote Refinery in Lekki, Nigeria, and aligns with broader continental objectives under the African Continental Free Trade Area. |
