Description | The African Refiners and Distributors Association (ARDA) highlights the need for modern, efficient, and commercially viable refining capacity in Africa. The existing state-owned refineries are underperforming due to maintenance challenges, outdated technology, and lack of investment. Upgrading these refineries to meet environmental standards is costly and often not viable. ARDA suggests building new refineries on the scale of the Dangote facility, with an estimated cost of up to $120 billion, to meet the growing demand for refined petroleum products across Africa. |
