Description | In August 2006 the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the government’s telecom sector regulator, awarded a 10 year “unified access service license” to private operator Danjay Telecoms Ltd. The license allowed Danjay Telecom to provide National Digital Mobile Services, National Fixed Telephony Services, National Long Distance Services, International Access, Internet Services Provision and Broadband Multimedia Services. The NCC website did not publish the total fees paid by Danjay Telecoms, but indicated they were all paid in full by the end of 2006. Press articles placed the licensing fees at N260 million ($2 million). Danjay Telecoms was a subsidiary of JAP Holdings, founded by Paul Mbu. |
