Description | Daqin Railway Co., Ltd. is a railway transportation services provider, established in October 2004 and headquartered in the city of Datong in Shanxi Province, China. The Company is mainly involved in the transportation of power coal and provides transport services for five big power generation companies and over 380 power plants around China. Daqin transported more than 90 percent of the coal produced in Shanxi and Inner Mongolia between 2003 and 2005. In 2006, coals from Datong of Shanxi province reached 62 million tons; 104.6 million tons from the surrounding areas of North Tong-pu line; 65 million tons from the West of Inner Mongolia; and 18.5 million tons from the North of Shaanxi Province. The company runs railways with a total lenght of 1157.3KM, including the 658KM Daqin Line (Datong-Qinhuangdao). Daqin issued a total of 3.03 billion IPO shares (out of total 12.98 billion shares) and raised 14.73 billion Yuan (US$1.85 billion) through the offer, which was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in August 2006. Taiyuan Railway Bureau still owned 72.94% of the equity of the company as the representative of the Ministry of Railway. |
