The project involves the modernization of Dar es Salaam Port in Tanzania. It aims to enhance infrastructure connections, including roads, highways, railways, and dedicated freight corridors. The investment is expected to have a positive impact on Tanzania's socioeconomic development by creating jobs, increasing access to products and services. DP World signed a 30-year concession agreement with the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) to operate and modernize the multi-purpose port. DP World will lease and operate four of the 12 berths at the port. The contract concerns the first phase of a multi-phase investment plan, according to which DP World will initially invest more than $250 million to upgrade the port. The investment could increase to $1 billion during the concession period, alongside hinterland logistics projects. Future investments for port modernization, including temperature-controlled storage and increased rail-linked logistics connectivity are in the works.
