Description | The Darden Clean Energy Project (DCEP) in western Fresno County, California, will feature 1,150 MW of solar power generating capacity backed with up to 1,150 MW/4,600 MWh of battery storage. It is the largest solar-plus-storage initiative in the world and the first to be permitted under California's Opt-In Certification programme, which accelerates permitting for eligible clean energy projects. The project will be built over 9,500 acres of land no longer suitable for agriculture and will include around 3.1 million solar panels. The battery storage will provide power to 850,000 homes for four hours. Construction is expected to create over 2,000 prevailing-wage jobs and provide over USD 2 million in community investments over the next decade. |
