DARE ‘Meaningful, Purposeful and Sustained’ Cross Community & Cultural Contact will result in 2330 BME, CNR & BME participants having improved relationships that will meet the programme call. DARE to Lead Change seeks to inform & change what citizens know & think about the mix in NI society by introducing a multifaceted conversation about cultural, racial & ethnic interdependence. Key factors will include: People working with facilitators who are representative of different cultural, community & religious backgrounds. Addressing negative attitudes in relation to race & ethnicity, with most suspicion & stereo typically directed at Irish Travellers & Muslim newcomers. Building & sustaining relationships within & between the PUL, CNR & BME communities. Open dialogue to support BME integration & cross-border cooperation to ensure that, during local political uncertainties & post-Brexit, ongoing relationships will continue to develop. Partners: The delivery partners are Bryson Intercultural & TIDES. Our other initiating partners include North West Migrant Forum, Mid-Ulster Inter Ethnic Forum & An Munia Tober. All committed to the promotion, recruitment & strategic dialogue through active participation in the Executive Intercommunity Interest Forum (IIF). Other support organisations & agencies include South Belfast Round table on Racism & the Refugee Asylum Forum & Council good relations teams. Project Design: The DARE project design was based on grass-roots & BME partner organisations consultation. As a result DARE Builds Relationships on a multi-cultural basis on a number of critical strategic platforms. Collaboration & cohesion at a regional level through an IIF. Investment in building the participation capacity of BME, CNR & PUL local community champions. Identified PUL & CNR hosts interested in helping us open & sustain dialogues on difference in their area of influence. Together the IIF, BME Champions & Community Hosts, will raise a regional dialogue with citizens from NI & the Border Regions, listening & responding to general public questions & concerns. Informing & supporting Policy development & Implementation. Delivering Activities: Building Relationships by developing 330 PUL, CNR & BME community champions though Integrated training of Cultural Awareness, Good Relations & Civic Leadership and Contentious Cultural Issues- becoming our community hosts. Community Hosts- will be drawn from our partnerships broader reach & contact base including NI Strategic Migrant Partnership led by NILGA which includes, representatives of Government depts, elected politicians & the voluntary sector; the NIHE; V&C Sector where Bryson Intercultural leads the Vulnerable Syrian Refugee Consortium. Improve Relationships by building capacity 45 BME community champions who will co-facilitate Diversity workshops.
