Description | The Darlington New Nuclear Project involves the construction of four small modular reactors next to the Darlington nuclear generating station in Clarington, Ontario. The provincial government has approved the start of construction for the first reactor, which is expected to be completed and providing power by 2030. The first reactor will provide 300 megawatts of power, enough to supply about 300,000 homes, and is expected to support 200 high-paying jobs plus 1,600 jobs during construction. The project aims to position Canada as a global leader in SMR technology for domestic use and export. |
