The Darlington New Nuclear Project involves the construction of the first Small Modular Reactor (SMR) in the G7, located in Ontario, Canada. The project includes the installation of a 2.1-million-pound basemat module for Unit 1, marking the first foundation laid for a new nuclear reactor in Ontario in over 30 years. The four-unit project is expected to generate 1,200 megawatts of electricity, powering approximately 1.2 million homes. It aims to strengthen energy security, support economic growth, and create high-skilled jobs, with significant involvement of Ontario-based businesses and a focus on domestic supply chain expansion.
