Description

Description	Darlington station is undergoing a £140 million makeover including the construction of two new train platforms, a fully enclosed step-free footbridge, and a multi-storey car park with over 600 spaces and electric vehicle chargers. The project also includes new bike lanes and shelters, and upgrades to the existing Grade II listed station with new lifts and staircases. The railway bridge is being rebuilt to allow more trains through, and a new pedestrian bridge is being constructed to link old and new parts of the station. Platforms 5 and 6 are under construction with track layout work starting in autumn 2025. The project aims to improve passenger experience with more choice and fewer delays, and is expected to complete by the end of 2025.
