Data Center Expansion in the United States

ongoing expansion

An unprecedented expansion of data centers driven by AI is underway across multiple U.S. states, including Virginia, Texas, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Ohio, and Illinois. The expansion involves thousands of operational and planned data centers, adding significant power capacity and impacting rural farmland and water resources. The project emphasizes smarter building strategies such as co-locating data centers next to power sources, using hybrid geothermal-natural gas systems, deploying water-saving cooling technologies, and protecting farmland through smarter zoning.
