Data collection for City and Subnational Statistics

The general context of this action is the collection of quantitative information on the quality of life in European cities and regions in support of EU policy initiatives on urban and rural development. The main purpose of this action is the support to Croatian Bureau of Statistics (CBS) as a beneficiary in developing and adapting its statistical infrastructure in order to be able to produce statistics on sub-national territorial typologies, in particular on Cities and Functional Urban Areas. Objectives will be achieved through the following activities: Activity 1: Provision of statistics (data and metadata) on Cities and Functional Urban Areas Activity 2: Assessing and implementing changes on sub-national territorial typologies taking into account the 2021 census based population grid Activity 5: Raise awareness and increase knowledge about sub-national statistics The main achievements expected: - Validated dataset for the referenced years 2021 and 2022 - Metadata file according to ESS standards completed - Statistical production based on updated territorial typologies - Raised awareness and increased knowledge about sub-national statistics The project is expected to: - implement and improve city statistics data collection at national level, - produce related statistical outputs according to ESS standards and based on updated territorial typologies, - ensure knowledge sharing, dissemination and communication of sub-nationals statistics. The overall activities including final results will be presented to all project participants at the end of the project with the aim of detecting what could be improved further. It is expected to receive feedback information from the representatives of every branch office participating in the project. Having in mind that regional offices have limited human and financial resources, direct exchange of information with them can result in specific proposals concerning further improvements.
