Daulo Commodities Cooperative Society Agroforestry Project

The primary business objective of the Daulo Commodities Cooperative Society Agroforestry Project is to advocate and promote rural-based sustainable and inclusive agro-business activities such as commercial production of agricultural products like coffee, bulb onion, and vegetables as well as a long-term investment in tree planting. Thus, the cooperative’s project focuses on the inclusive programs and participation of the rural communities in rural including women and youth. Sustainable and inclusive agriculture involves rural communities by providing the necessary support and agriculture training to farmers on how to rehabilitate coffee, manage and process coffee, plant nurseries and transplant commercial bulb onion, and vegetable farming. Tree planting is one of the focused objectives of the project with the long-term investment goal and its seen as a potential investment for all the cooperatives advocating tree nurseries and planting to have every family of the household plant hectors of trees whilst also mitigating climate change. The project’s advocacy for inclusive agroforestry programs and training is a success story in the past years and more support and efforts are needed for growth and expansion. As a success story of the project, rural farmers are now into large-scale coffee production and bulb onion cultivation for domestic sales. Many tree farmers have now planted trees on hectors of land and that is their long-term investment. The project is seeking a potential investor to contribute towards investing in coffee rehabilitation and extension, bulb onion farming and training, tree planting, and also for the purchase of a Coffee Processing Machine. The project is also seeking collaborations to access production materials and components at affordable prices, the accessing to technology and know-how expertise for the farmers, and joint research and development to improve productivity.
