Davenport Diamond rail grade separation PPP project

The Davenport Diamond is one of the last high-traffic rail crossings in Toronto. To enhance safety and reliability, and to allow the significant expansion and enhancement of rail service promised by Metrolinx, the Davenport Diamond level crossing will be removed by constructing an overpass to separate the freight corridor from the GO corridor. GO Transit is a regional public transit system in Southern Ontario.The work required includes:construction of a grade separation structure between the north/south GO Rail corridor and east/west CP Rail corridor to minimize delays to GO serviceimplementation of a pedestrian underpass to restore east/west connection at Paton Roaderection of retaining walls forming the approaches of the grade separation structure, topped with noise barrier walls and superimposed cladding to minimize impacts on the communityconstruction of a rail guideway offset within the corridor during construction to accommodate a temporary diversion track and a temporary rail diamondmodification of an existing at-grade road crossing at Wallace Avenue to become a road under rail grade separationpublic realm enhancements, including artwork on the structure cladding and new pedestrian and cyclist routesprovisions for future electrification implemented within upgraded rail infrastructure to accommodate future electrified GO train service
