Description
Description | The David Crombie Park Revitalization is a major public realm project to renew a 1.6ha linear green space in Toronto's St Lawrence neighbourhood. The project focuses on upgrading aging amenities and social infrastructure while retaining the park's defining character, including repairing and retaining existing concrete walls, paving, and sports courts, and introducing new elements such as timber seating, play structures, and social spaces. Sustainability is a central driver, with a preservation-led design strategy to reduce embodied carbon and introduce low-impact strategies like permeable paving and bioswales. Indigenous placemaking is embedded throughout the revitalization with elements like a Sacred Fire and storytelling spaces. The project also includes coordinated improvements along The Esplanade to enhance cycling infrastructure and pedestrian routes, linking the park to nearby community destinations. Construction is phased from 2026 through 2028, allowing portions of the park to remain accessible during the work. |
