The project involved transforming the east side of the LACMA campus with a single-floor building cantilevering over the adjacent La Brea Tar Pits and spanning Wilshire Boulevard. The building offers 110,000 square feet of exhibition space and features poured-in-place concrete construction with a design emphasizing an 'American' roughness. The project was funded in part by a $150 million pledge from entertainment executive David Geffen and had a total cost of $724 million. |
