Dawson Creek Water Supply System Project

The City of Dawson Creek is undertaking detailed technical work to find a new water source other than the Kiskatinaw River due to years of drought. The project involves determining the best source of new water, the amount needed, and the most effective delivery method. The work includes technical assessments, engagement with Indigenous communities, government, regulatory agencies, industry, and residents, and is divided into four phases: preliminary research and planning, detailed studies and analysis, source evaluation, and implementation planning. Additionally, there is a Temporary Emergency Overland Water Transfer System proposed to pump water from the Peace River as a temporary solution if the Kiskatinaw River runs dry.
