Description

Description

DB Deutsche Bahn will no longer use its mascot mole Max Maulwurf for its communication related to the construction and maintenance of infrastructure. The news announced on Wednesday marks the end of a career spanning almost three decades. Going forward, railway communications at DB will be consolidated under the ‘New Network for Germany’ campaign. According to Jens-Oliver Voss, head of railway communications, Germany and DB are on the eve of a rail revolution with record investments of at least 170 billion euros in the current decade, of which a record sum of 13,6 billion euros will be spent this year alone. Such a revolution necessitates a “radical change” when it comes to construction-related communication. “Every construction project is a step towards more rail traffic and, thus, more climate protection. The new construction site communication should emphasise exactly that”, said Voss. The new strategy means a complete redesign of posters, flyers and other forms of communication, using more colours, new shapes and positive slogans. Going forward, DB’s communications regarding construction will look as follows.
