Deadpan is a comedy drama production company. Our unique house style combines a deadpan comic tone with drama. Deadpan has a production company model that sustains 9 hours of production annually with an annual turnover of €13.5m. We employ 6 full-time staff to supply the pipeline for that level of production. Our remit is to be the Lead Producers on medium budget, returnable, drama series which are sellable internationally while also co-producing projects that are consistent with the Deadpan brand. We aim to be the number 1 comedy drama producer in Europe. Our editorial line is to develop our own projects which are character driven, humorous and distinctly Irish. We do this by identifying unique voices and diverse talent with ideas that fit with our vision and by originating our own ideas to bring to talent. As our network of European contacts has grown and our ideas have become more ambitious we have made a concerted effort to initiate stories that have a European angle and an eye on the European market. We want to take advantage of our position as the only European Union English-language territory. Our choice of projects for this Slate reflects our distinct Deadpan take on drama series. The projects are at various stages of development, allowing us to maintain a strong pipeline of production over the coming 2 to 4 years. We continue to promote diversity in our drama series, both in terms of creative teams behind the camera and on-screen talent. We develop stories with a mix of socio-economic settings and characters of different sexual identity, race and abilities. We seek writers, both experienced and emerging, who represent those backgrounds authentically. Although based in a small market we have the ability to maximise local broadcasters and soft funding to co-finance projects with European co-producers, broadcasters, streamers and distributors.
