D.E.A.P.: Data, Education, Awareness, Protection 2.0

D.E.A.P. 2.0 (Data, Education, Awareness, and Protection 2.0) is a continuation of the successful EU-funded D.E.A.P. project, which now focuses on educational professionals and people working in youth and culture. The focus is on third places that offer children and young people a space for creative expression, social interaction and lifelong learning. In order to achieve this, the topic of data protection needs to be handled with confidence. The aim of the project is to train educational professionals in data protection and develop them into digital role models in cultural work with children and young people. In view of the constant development of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies, it is important that these professionals are also able to deal with new challenges in data protection. In cooperation with the Hamburg Data Protection Authority (HmbBfDI) and the LAG Kinder- und Jugendkultur (LAG), training and information events are offered to raise awareness of data protection aspects and prepare professionals for the increasing complexity of dealing with data through AI. In addition to larger institutions such as libraries and cultural facilities, special attention is also paid to individual actors in children's and youth cultural work, who not only have to offer low-threshold access to knowledge and culture, but also create a safe environment for children and young people. The LAG Kinder- und Jugendkultur is an association of actors in Hamburg's children's and youth culture and is also networked nationwide. One of its principles is that all children and young people must have access to cultural education programs and projects from the very beginning, regardless of their background and education. D.E.A.P. 2.0 will raise awareness of data protection issues in various offline events.
