Description
Description | Death and the Maiden (DATM) will be Adina Pintilie's 2nd feature film. It benefits from a confirmed solid international coproduction structure from both East & West of Europe, which aims to develop and produce a feature-length audiovisual work with strong cinematic language and impactful audience appeal. This female-led co-production includes award-winning companies such as Manekino Film (Romania), Gaijin (FR), KGP Filmproduktion (AT), Amerikafilm (DE) and PINK(CZ). After winning the Golden Bear in 2018 with TOUCH ME NOT (TMN) (distributed in over 40 territories, a stellar festival career), Pintilie went on to represent Romania at the 2022 Venice Art Biennale, with a multimedia installation that ranked the Romanian Pavilion among the Top 10 International Pavilions, in major art and culture publications worldwide. Springing from Pintilie's decade-long artistic research on intimacy, DATM comes as a natural next step in the filmmaker's development, to open up a space for dialogue, where international audiences are invited to re-evaluate their views on intimacy and relationships. This ambitious project requires an extended development process in several European countries, enabling cross-disciplinary cooperations which will foster meaningful long term collaborations between filmmakers, crew, companies, communities and institutional partners.
