The project is part of the German development cooperation priority of decentralization and good governance. It aims to ensure that the local authorities in the project regions of Tahoua, Tillabery and Agadez can provide their population with a high-quality infrastructure for primary and secondary education in the long term. The direct target group of the project is the local authorities; the population, in particular school-age children, benefits indirectly through improved access to school education. The local authorities concerned are supported throughout the entire project cycle of infrastructure construction (identification, selection, planning, implementation, commissioning and organization of sustainable operation and maintenance via operating committees). The investments include the construction and renovation of school infrastructure (primary and secondary schools, including equipment for classrooms, latrines, teachers' accommodation, teaching materials, etc.). A teaching materials package is planned for the immediate needs of operation, maintenance and equipment of schools and operating committees.
