Description
Description | DENSYS 2.0 is dedicated to fostering the development of decentralized smart energy systems, facilitating the massive integration of renewable energies to contribute to EU policy objectives like the Green Deal and Fit for 55. The program is jointly designed and implemented by a consortium of four European higher education institutions: the University of Lorraine (UL) in France (coordinator), the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden, the Polytechnic University of Turin (PoliTo) in Italy, and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) in Spain. DENSYS 2.0 aims to educate a new generation of engineers and researchers with a holistic understanding of energy transition and its impacts on geography, economy, society, and natural resources. Tailored to meet industry and academia's most recent needs, DENSYS 2.0 continues on the legacy of the former EM DENSYS, and specifically emphasizes decentralization of energy systems, net-zero targets with carbon removal technologies, environmental awareness, reinforced digital skills, and skills in the strategic management of long-term sustainable projects. Over two years (120 ECTS), students will study at UL in the first year, equipping them with an interdisciplinary vision that includes fundamental concepts of decentralized energy systems and exposure to humanities. They will then have the opportunity to specialize at one of the mobility options: decentralized energy integration at KTH, energy storage at PoliTo, or thermal engineering at UPC. The curriculum will be completed by a full semester of master thesis/internship either in a research center or industry. Thanks to the collaboration with 12 associated partners, collaboration will be enhanced with industrial partners operating and sourcing skills at an international level, startups, and European research institutions involved in the energy transition. Graduates will receive a double master's degree, aiming to move forward to joint degrees in the future. |
