Description
Description | The project is part of the German-Nigerian priority program Decentralization and Good Governance and is closely linked to the corresponding TC activities and is aimed at strengthening central institutions in the Nigerien decentralization process. This should enable these institutions to fulfill the tasks assigned to them more effectively and efficiently. The program therefore includes improving local public services with a focus on municipal infrastructure investments in the three program regions (component I), improving the training and further education opportunities for local authorities in the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of municipal infrastructure (component II) and supporting the establishment of the national transfer mechanism ANFICT (component III). This will continue the investment and investment-related activities of the previous FC commitment Municipal Investment Fund FICOD I-III in an innovative way and with the involvement of the newly created regions, and prepare for the consolidation of fiscal decentralization through the introduction of the national transfer system. The total cost of the project, which is designed as an open program, amounts to around EUR 29 million, which will be financed through the available FC grant of EUR 28.5 million and a Nigerien contribution of around EUR 0.5 million. |
