Decentralized management of bio-waste using alternative and innovative processing systems

The project concerns the promotion of biodegradation at the source and the management of biowaste from domestic organic waste, agricultural and livestock residues using innovative systems (integrated bio-waste management systems). The project focuses on isolated areas where the cost of waste management at central processing plants is very high. With the implementation of the project, the selected areas in Greece (Municipality of Naxos and Minor Cyclades) and Cyprus (Kambos Community) will rationally manage the organic load by converting it to value-added final products, providing multiple benefits, as integrated bio-waste management is achieved through processing & re-utilization and the diversion of organic fraction from landfills by saving resources and energy
