Decisions, Elections and Games in the European Union: Reinforcing Civic Competences in a Context of Uncertainty

The Jean Monnet Chair ‘Decisions, Elections and Games in the European Union: Reinforcing Civic Competences in a Context of Uncertainty’ (DEGAM-EU) at the University of Salamanca (Spain) aims to develop the European civic competences of young university students so that they can better understand the decision-making process, the elections and the organisational dynamics of different institutions within the EU. To this end, over a period of three years and in coordination with teachers from the United Kingdom, the United States, Portugal, Argentina and Paraguay, training courses, simulations, public diplomacy workshops and multiplier events will be held to promote knowledge of the European Parliament, the European Commission, the European Council, the Council of the European Union and the European Central Bank. The Chair, using innovative pedagogical techniques (Visual Thinking and Flipped Classroom), will collect data on the evolution of the civic competences of the training beneficiaries. The three-year project has a solid strategy for training new generations of researchers, which will be accompanied by high-impact publications of their findings and dissemination through traditional media and social networks (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, Facebook and Spotify).
