Deep Fission Underground Nuclear Reactor Project

Deep Fission has received a prototype reactor canister at its Parsons, Kansas site for its underground nuclear reactor project, which is part of the Department of Energy's Reactor Pilot program. The company is developing small nuclear reactors designed to operate about one mile underground. The prototype delivered does not contain nuclear fuel and is used for equipment testing and installation procedures under non-nuclear conditions. The company is also seeking permits from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for further testing involving a borehole underground.
