Description

Description

This project is a transportation enhancement in Dekalb County. Deepdene Park will be rehabilitated. The Mead at the east end and the West Lawn at the west end of Deepdene Park will have the open, pastoral character of the other five Olmsted parks and will be connected by a promenade traversing the length of the park. The 8' wide hard-surface path in the Promenade is consistently 20 feet from the street, rather than the meandering alignment found in the other parks. The Mead will be landscaped to invite a variety of uses. On the west end, a small oval lawn, one of the pedestrian entrees into Deepdene Park, includes turf grass, trees, path and benches. Further westward outside the park, a sidewalk will be built connecting to an existing sidewalk. Burial of utilities and the installation of street lighting will further enhance this linkage. The small triangular Azalea Park at the East Lake Road intersection also will be landscaped in the Olmstedian tradition.
