Objectives - Improve the implementation of the Procedural Rights Directives through better understanding of good and bad practice in terms of the evidentiary remedies available across the EU for violations of the Directives - Increase mutual trust and cross-border cooperation in evidence sharing by increasing the knowledge-base on and fostering dialogue around evidentiary admissibility rules and practices Activities - Management and coordination of the project team - Establishing the regional state of play > Cataloguing EU-wide implementation of key ECtHR Article 6 judgments > Academic reserch into legal, historical and constitutional principles underlying practice in 6 Member States - Establishing the domestic state of play > Research tools, in-depth local research and monitoring and reports - Awareness-raising and dissemination > Partner Experience Sharing Meeting > Domestic Action Plans and targeted outreach activities > Domestic Report launches - Regional advocacy > Regional Report and launch event > Regional Experience Sharing Meeting Type and number of persons benefiting from the project - 200 national and regional policy-makers - 1600 criminal justice practitioners Expected results - Understanding increased of the extent to which defendants can challenge evidentiary admissibility through evidence gathering procedures and at trial; - Awareness raised in key stakeholders of the extent to which a lack of evidentiary remedies for procedural rights violations impacts the implementation of the Directives; - Areas identified of potential common ground (and divergence) across the EU in evidentiary admissibility that could form the basis of further development of EU policies.
