Defining water consumption and access drivers in LAC

The objective of this technical cooperation is to strengthen public policy design in urban contexts by studying the factors that determine differences in water consumption. This approach focuses on: (i) specific household characteristics (size, gender composition, race, sexual identity, presence of people with disabilities, etc.) to develop policies that close access gaps; (ii) management elements for operators, such as tariffs, campaigns to minimize consumption, and support for the exchange of residential amenities; and (iii) the environment surrounding households (urban context, density, infrastructure availability, etc.) to identify the connections between land use and water security from a regulatory perspective in four pilot cities in Brazil, Ecuador, and Mexico.
