Description | Victoria’s State Electricity Commission (SEC) announced the acquisition of the up to 205-MW Delburn wind project in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. The project is gearing for construction to begin in early 2026 and will be equipped with 33 wind turbines, planned to generate enough electricity to supply over 130,000 homes annually. Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S has been selected as the primary proponent for the supply, installation, and servicing of the hardware. The project was bought from its developer OSMI Australia, which will continue to play a critical role in the construction and delivery of the project. The investment is estimated to be about AUD 600-700 million. The project was initially permitted in 2022 and received final clearance in 2023 after a legal case with Australia’s Supreme Court. A plan for a battery storage component was turned down by the Victorian Minister for Planning. |
